CASA DEL FORMAGGIO

The cheese house is a renovation of an existing residential space, converted into a shop selling dairy products.
The family-run business is made up of the shepherd and his son who take the flocks to the mountains, while his daughters and his wife process the milk to create the cheeses. The female figure, as well as the study of the materials of the cheese manufacturing process, were points of reference for the entire design.
The three women are the image of the production and sales space, so the materials used for the working process, such as pear, chestnut wood and copper are reinterpreted within the space.
The harmonious and curvilinear geometry is linked to the cheese and the female figure, so the windows seek a dialogue with the outside in contrast to the existing building from the 70s, to draw the visitor's attention from the flowing road in the distance.
Chestnut wood is used to design the counter, and to mark the limit between the sales space and the workspace. The shelves inside the niches are made of pear wood and the vertical surfaces are made of rough plaster.
